The short version

We currently earn nothing from the links on this site. Every “View on eBay” and “Buy on eBay” link goes straight to the listing or search on eBay, with no affiliate or tracking code added. The accessories strip (ribbon, type cleaner, platen fluid, oil) links to plain Amazon searches, also untracked. No seller, dealer, restorer or marketplace pays us for placement.

If that ever changes, for example if we join an affiliate programme, we will update this page and label the links before they go live.

How outbound links are marked

Links to eBay and Amazon open in a new tab and carryrel="nofollow noopener". That tells search engines we aren’t vouching for an individual marketplace listing, and stops the new tab from controlling this one.

Buying picks and listing snapshots

The “Buying guide” picks and the “Live on eBay right now” listings on a model page come from a dated review of the active eBay listings for that model. Picks are chosen on delivered price against the typical asking range, condition and servicing as described, and seller feedback. Overpriced listings and sellers we would double-check are tagged as warnings. Sellers cannot pay to be picked. Each snapshot is dated, and some listings will have ended by the time you read it. AI-generated typewriter photos

Model pages and cards use a representative product photo generated by an AI image model from real seller photos of that model, where we have one. It is labelled as such where it appears large. It is not a photo of any listing, and the machine you buy will look different. Judge condition from the seller’s photos. See themethodologyfor details.

Selling to us

This site is part ofallbutnew. The “Have one to sell?” links go to allbutnew’s shared offer form. If you send details of a typewriter, someone from allbutnew replies by email with an offer or a straight no. You are free to sell it anywhere else until you accept.

No sponsored content

We don’t accept sponsored posts, paid listings, or paid endorsements of any restoration shop, parts vendor, or refurbished-machine seller. Mentions of specific shops in ourbuying guidesare reputation-based, not paid.

Purchases and disputes

Purchases happen on eBay (or Amazon), between you and the seller. We are not a party to the transaction; returns, refunds and item-not-as-described claims go through the platform’s buyer protection.
