Used Facit typewriters
Facit, of Åtvidaberg in Sweden, is best known for mechanical calculators, but it also made typewriters after taking over the Halda typewriter business; Halda was the brand name until 1957. Its portables include the TP1 of 1958, designed by Sigvard Bernadotte, the 1960s TP2, which has a die-cast aluminium body and an excellent reputation for typing feel, and the 1620 from 1969, a newer and cheaper design that is often mislabelled as a TP2 in listings. Facit also made electric office machines. Electrolux bought Facit in 1972 after the calculator business collapsed. Facit portables are uncommon in the US: in late 2026 TP2-titled listings, mostly actually 1620s, asked about $175–400 delivered on eBay. Always ask for a photo of the model plate.
